LISTENING TO A STREAM OF WATER IN THE FOREST

By Abigail Rogson

Rippling slowly,

moving through the forest.

I wonder what it's like to be water

in a stream, moving through the forest.

It was at that very moment

I realize

There is peace and goodness in all of us.

The poem and artwork were originally submitted to Honoring Our Rivers: A Student Anthology. Honoring Our Rivers is a project of Willamette Partnership, a conservation nonprofit based out of Portland. We publish student (K-college) artwork and creative writing inspired by rivers and the watersheds in an annual anthology alongside a handful of regional professionals. We're are on a mission to nurture the next generation of river stewards by connect young people to their watersheds and engaging their creativity. To learn more, visit www.honoringourrivers.org
